Parenting is one of the most important jobs in the world, yet, most of us raise our children with only the bits and pieces we learned from our parents or friends.
It can be difficult and comes with a roller coaster of highs and lows that sometimes flows in rapid succession and there is no instruction manual to guide you through it.
But, the truth is, you don't need one.
As the mother of a fifteen year old girl, I am well aware of the challenges our children face and am equally aware of how hard it is to be a mother.
I know what you need most is guidance, encouragement and support.
Parents Learning, Understanding & Succeeding (P.L.U.S.) makes a difference in the lives of families by adjusting perspectives, uncovering blind spots and providing strategies to overcome the challenges of raising children. Through a combination of training, coaching and activities, parents gain the skills to improve communication, build trust and improve their relationship with their children.
P.L.U.S. is a coaching program that offers an effective approach to parenting that gives parents the insight and strategies they need to raise their child in a safe, loving, supportive environment.
The program is divided into three components that guide parents to the healthy development of their families and offers practical exercises, tools and techniques to support growth and put the learning into action.
Whether you are expecting your first child or have been parenting for a while, this coaching program will give you exactly what you need to develop a healthy, happy and thriving family.
YOU AS A CHILD
Your childhood has a profound impact on your parenting style. The patterns, styles and rules that were used by your parents become your patterns, styles and rules - even if they aren't effective. That's why we start your journey to conscious parenting here. Being aware of your default behaviors and making the necessary changes to improve them, will significantly improve your relationship with your children.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A PARENT
You are bombarded with mixed messages about how to parent "the right way" and it's easy to buy into advice from the media, relatives and other parents. One of the most important ways to clear through all the clutter is to understand what you are (and aren't) responsible for as a parent.
BUILDING TRUST
Trust, even for parents, is earned, not given. By consistently demonstrating reliability, understanding and genuine care, you create a safe emotional space for your child which becomes a bridge for open communication, mutual respect, a sense of security and a healthy parent-child relationship.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
There is a right and a wrong way to communicate with your child. Get it right and you'll build a strong bond, enhance trust and help them feel valued. Get it wrong and even the simplest messages will be unheard. Create a supportive environment for emotional expression, problem solving and understanding and lay the groundwork for a resilient, communicative and confident future.
EXPECTATIONS AND BOUNDARIES
Establishing healthy expectations and boundaries with your child is crucial. By setting clear guidelines and fostering independence, you nurture a secure environment which helps your child understand limits, consequences and the importance of mutual respect.
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT
Conflict is natural but managing it with grace is key. By effectively navigating conflicts together, both you and your child grow emotionally which creates a foundation for healthy connections and resilience.
IDENTITY
Your child is unique and, as a parent, you have to find the thin line between allowing her to exert her personality and independence while also teaching her to do what she's told no matter how she feels about it. So, how do you help you child grow into her own person while still holding onto the reigns? We'll work through it together!
SELF CARE
Self-care for parents is non-negotiable cornerstone of effective parenting. It's a powerful act of self-love and preservation and is vital to being more present, patient and resilient. Self-care equips you with the energy and clarity needed to navigate the challenges of parenthood and is the fuel that empowers you to face each day with grace, patience and a positive mindset.
SUPPORT
Parenting can be both rewarding and challenging and having a support system contributes to a more balanced, confident and joyful parenting journey. But, it's crucial to have the right kind of support system. The right support system will help you navigate challenges, offer insight and become a source of inspiration, motivation become a reminder that you are not alone on this journey.
REGULAR CHECK-INS
Regular check-ins with yourself and your child can be a powerful tool for cultivating resilience and building a healthy relationship. By becoming more aware of your thoughts, feelings and needs, you can identify any unhelpful patterns and take steps to address them.
Orientation is designed to prepare you for success. You'll receive important information, have an opportunity to ask questions and be confidence in knowing exactly what to expect.
Discussion of valuable content that can be applied to your life immediately. You'll share your challenges, problems, concerns, and questions so you can be directed to the right solutions.
Practical exercises, tools and techniques in the form of handouts, websites, worksheets and online video that will help integrate your learning.
Assessments are an integral part of learning as they hep you see how you're progressing toward your goals. I use these to provide a regular snapshot of your progress to keep you moving forward.
You'll be learning tons of information inside this program and applying it to your everyday life... and you will have questions. When you you need extra support, I'll be just a text or email away.
Whether you are preparing to deliver your first child or have been parenting for a while, I can help you develop a greater sense of meaning, purpose and confidence as a parent.
As the mother of a 15-year old girl, I understand the challenges associated with parenting and know what it feels like to be faced with one obstacle after another that seem to undermine your efforts.
Due to intentional and effective parenting, my daughter:
✔️ Thinks independently and makes healthy choices.
✔️ Expresses herself freely and clearly.
✔️ Is compassionate and respectful towards others.
✔️ Has hope for her future and isn't afraid to dream big.
✔️ Is confident enough to not fall victim to negative peer pressure.
✔️Is not afraid to question what she doesn't understand.
✔️Is compassionate and kind to others, including her parents!
✔️Is fiercely independent.
✔️Has a strong relationship with God.
✔️Thrives in a society that is set up for her to fail.
Parenting is not easy. However, being the parent she needs (instead of forcing her to be the child I want) has made the experience smooth, rewarding and fun!
I am committed to helping you experience the joy of parenting and succeed in raising happy, well adjusted children.
