I know firsthand what it's like to wake up every day, take care of everyone else, then go to bed with your voice unheard, your needs unmet and your dreams unfulfilled.

I needed help but didn’t trust anyone enough to be vulnerable. So I pretended - pretended to be healthy, whole, and happy. I wore masks to cover up what I was really feeling. I supported everyone else in their growth while my own was stunted by poor self-esteem and low self-worth. Being suffocated by pretense almost killed me - literally. And I knew if I wanted to live, something had to change.
I tried changing everything around me - my partner, my friends, my church, my job, my residence. But nothing got better. So I did the one thing I’d never had the courage to do.
I changed me.
I wrapped myself in the security of my own cocoon and started the hard work of healing. Embracing my flaws and growing in spite of them was not easy. But as I began to know myself on the deepest, most intimate level, I discovered the power to create the life I had been desperate for.
I learned to control my own narrative, reclaimed my identity, and stepped boldly into the life I deserved. Today, I help Strong Black Women like you do the same.
